By combining the latest in materials and design and manufacturing techniques with over 50 years of experience, ZODIAC has created the worlds most recently approved range of O.R.I.L.'s for use by passenger ships and fishing vessels on inland or coastal waters O.R.I.L.s are designed for immediate use no matter which side up they inflate.

Manufactured from the same durable polyurethane coated fabric found on ZODIAC SOLAS liferaft's, O.R.I.L.s are assembled using the advanced ZODIAC hot assembly technique, Thermobonding. Being computer controlled, thermobonding eliminates the inconsistencies inherent in the old fashioned gluing methods still used by other manufacturers. The fabric's chemical nature and the thermobonding process make ZODIAC O.R.I.L. liferaft's especially inert to ageing factors in the marine environment.

Due to the fabric weight and structure, ZODIAC O.R.I.L.s are easy to service and require light, short sized but remarkably strong, glass reinforced plastic (GRP) containers. All O.R.I.L.s can be dropped from up to 18 meters.

The unique rust-proof ZODIAC firing head allows quick inflation even at -30°C (-22° F) in less than three minutes whatever the size of the liferaft. Equipped on both sides of the buoyancy tube with boarding ramps, retro-reflective tapes, automatically activated signalling lamps (with manual on/off switch to help conserve the 12 hour drycell batteries during daylight) and also high volume, weighted stabilising water pockets, O.R.I.L.s are safe rescue platforms, even in extreme sea conditions. A large sea anchor and self-bailing floor also contribute to the safety of the occupants.
